Admission Application Information

We strongly encourage you to attend a tour of the school.  Tours are held Mondays from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. during the school year (except during the 2 weeks of FCAT testing in the Spring or on holidays or teacher planning days).  This will help you determine whether SAS is the right school for your child. No appointment is necessary; however, the tour and orientation begins promptly at 10:00 a.m. and you need to be on time to be included. We do not recommend bringing young children to the tour.

Please do the necessary research so that you can make an informed decision if your child's application is drawn in the lottery. Sometimes parents have a very limited time to make this important decision. Please do not expect to have a private tour of the school.

  • Students MUST be residents of either Leon or Wakulla County, Florida at the time of enrollment and you need to provide proof of address. (You may apply before you are a resident, but be sure to update your application once you have moved to Leon or Wakulla County.)
  • Drawings are held in early March for the Fall Kindergarten class.  Applications must be on file by March 1st of the year the student is entering Kindergarten to be included in this March lottery. The child MUST be 5 years old on or before September 1 of the year he or she enters Kindergarten.
  • Openings in other grades are filled by lottery from the applications on file in our applicant pool when we need to fill an opening. Except for Kindergarten, we do not have a set time for lottery drawing. We have a full enrollment so someone must leave the school in order for there to be an opening.
  • We do not have a chronological "waiting list." However, some students do have a priority for openings such as siblings of children who are SAS students and children of teachers and staff; if no priority students are waiting, openings are filled by lottery drawing.
  • We will only contact you if your application is drawn.
  • Please be sure to update your application if your contact information changes.
  • Applications stay on file for three years; after this time a new application must be submitted to be in the lottery for openings.
  • You may submit your application at any time during the year and there is no cost to apply.
  • If you would like to check on whether we have received your application, please phone the school at 850-386-6566. We are unable to contact everyone who submits an application.

You can click here to access an application or go to Documents and Forms at the top of the left Navigation Bar on the home page to print an application to mail or FAX.  (Note:  if a window comes up asking for a Username/Password, just click "Cancel" and the document should open)
